What Linux has for programs.

If your used to Windows, you know that windows has  many programs for it that you  need  to have available for use. Office programs, email client, etc, are all essential to have a computer you can actually use. DON'T worry, Linux has these too, and they are better.

OpenOffice

Microsoft Windows offers a set of productivity programs called Microsft Office 2003. In truth, some professionals can't use their computer without these programs. I know i need them for college classes. Thats  fine, Linux offers OpenOffice. OpenOffice has an equivelent for every Microsoft Office program: Power Point, Word, Excel, etc. If you can do it in Microsoft Office, you can do it in OpenOffice, but Microsoft Office wants $500 for their product. OpenOffice costs nothing. Not only that, but you can save a project in Microsoft Office and open it with OpenOffice, so all of you work can continue without delay.

Internet Productivity

Like Windows Internet Explorer (IE), Linux has many web browsers. Firefox is my personal favorite. It works just like IE. Also, their are many email programs for Linux like Thunderbird, these are even more secure than the Microsoft Outlook Express. Also, in Linux, their is no need to purchase a high quality firewall program, Linux has a built in firewall program that is the most secure in the world. If you like using Bittorrent, Linux also has many Bittorrent programs available, and their is also Limewire. If Windows does it, Linux does it better.

 Firefox,

Thunderbird,

Aim,

Limewire,

Bittorrent,

Firewall,

many, many more
